DACA recipient since 2012.

So, I was driving back to my San Antonio and I have to pass an immigration check point. I have passed this check point many times. Today when I went thru we got stopped and the agent asked if If I've ever been in trouble. I told him no. He then said that category C33 doesn't exist anymore. He told me that I had to get off and go in the office to fill out some paperwork to correct the mistake. After looking at him in confusion for a while, he then told me to just go head and go. He said he didn't want to hold the line anymore. He told me next time I go thru a checkpoint that I need to get off and fill out paperwork. What do you guys make of this? Has this ever happen to any of you?

Whoa that's a first. He can't do that. DACA is still valid right?? The lower courts stopped it from ending atm.

It is isn't? The Supreme court decided not to hear the case. So the ruling of the 2 judges still stands. Mine doesn't expire till August 2018.

Sounds like he was just being a dick. But decided it wasn't work it. Lucked out I think. You would have probably been ok after going in but would have been pretty scary either way.

In this administration we have to be careful with everything. According to ICE, DACA is not a protected legal status, but active DACA recipients are typically a lower level of enforcement priority. Technically we can still be deported we are just not a priority.

The CBP are the ones behind check points. They're right under DHS such as USCIS and ICE. I believe it was an honest mistake he didnt know about the Court ruling. I would print USCIS page where they state DACA is still alive.

I didn’t know they had check points down there. I’ve been down there and never seen one.

He's just on a power-trip, I would have ACLU's number handy in the future.

No, we have deferred action status, which means they cannot target us for removal.

They would have to cancel our deferred action status first, which the courts have prohibited them from doing.

He just trying to scare you off. Don't make it a big deal.

Blacks and Hispanics deal with this kind of harrassment in the hood in a daily basis with cops.
