You really have to pay attention to the moon schedule. The best time to go is during a new moon, when the sky is darker. Check out this site for more info:

I was reading into it as well and heard the same. Where are you planning to stay, city wise?

Staying in Old San Juan, in a baller ass AirBnB.

I'll be hitting up the casinos in Condado a couple of nights to play craps. Go on a few hikes.

Any ideas what else I can do?

La Placita for nightlife.
El Yunque for hiking. Vieques and Culebra for beaches.

La Placita looks dope. Thank you for the recommendation.

I am planning to hit up Culebra.

My coworker recommended this bar in Old San Juan called La Factoria. Looks good.

I loved La Placita.. closest I've been to going back home in 20 years.
We were actually going to La Factoria but ended up getting too drunk so didn't make it
If you're planning to go to Culebra get to the Ferry really early like 7 AM otherwise you won't get a ticket. Vieques is less known and pretty good as well. Take a back-pack with water/drinks. Plan to be there all day. We went last summer prior to the Hurricane so unsure how affected it is.

Oh, and check out El Morro and/or Castillo San Cristobal for history.. really puts things in perspective.

I thought it was pretty underwhelming. It is too dark to photograph anything close to what you see in stock pictures and you won't be able to swim in the bay due to environmental concerns.

Awesome. Keeping all recommendations bookmarked in my Tripadvisor account.

Can you bring your own booze to Culebra and drink it on the beach? I don't want to get busted and deported for breaking the law. I'm planning to get to the Ferry in Fajardo at 6am.

By the way, did you have a car rental?

What are flight prices looking like for those who booked/are looking into booking? I want to visit during memorial day weekend.

See I've been hearing that, that sucks! Maybe in the future, when things work out for us then.
Thanks for your input
