Didn’t see Democrats had talked about this.

The pace at which people can obtain green card is too slow. As soon as the application floodgates open up, there will be hundreds of thousands of Dreamers who will have to wait YEARS in order to get their cards. Not to mention the potential number of beneficiaries is a lot larger now that legal Dreamers are added to the equation.

They really should increase the # so that all DACA can obtain gc instantly after the 5 yr period. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with an extra 30-40k visas a year that can be kept in escrow to get to the 800k mark by 6 th year.

Most people will adjust their status through work/ marriage/ children. This life line will buy us more time. Some dreamers are tired and are planning on self deporting. So maybe the process will be a little faster. We should be lucky they are even considering it. This country owes us nothing.

Most DACA are EWI and can't adjust through work / marriage / children.

I may be wrong about this, but to my recollection. There is a loophole in the system where someone petitioning for an adjustment through marriage and is DACA can leave and renter the US at a checkpoint and that counts. At least that's what I understood from my lawyer. This was the day after DACA being revoked and I was still in a daze that day.

That is correct I-601A

https://www.uscis.gov/i-601a

I-601A, Application for Provisional Unlawful Presence Waive

It’s a pain in the ass, but that’s the option for EWIs at the moment. If this thing passes and allows travel, we can clear it with a legal entry at a checkpoint.

Yes, that's true. People like Goodlatte have complained about this AP loophole ever since people started adjusting through it. Not possible now since AP is not an option for us.

If this new bill comes along, it might add a new provision regarding this loophole.

This is not entirely true. There will be 400,000 GCs up for grabs in 5 years, maybe up to 450,000. Sure, some will have to wait 5 more years most less than 3 years, but with the visa you wont be stranded. You will be able to travel. You will be able todo anything if not more than what you can already do with daca. What else can you complain about? I think is a reasonable plan. Most importanly it expires not until 6 years later, and it can be renewed. I think this covers most of our bases. Not everyone will apply the for GC the first year they become available , some will wait longer, I think it will be okay.

the outline is confusing af, it aint moderate at all.

its just some typical bureaucratic shit, making us jump through hella loops to get to the finish line.

all that pathway concept a,b,c. is completely unnecessary. they just doing this shit to appease a minority of republicans (freedom caucus).

why not just stick with the 8-10 yr wait with an AA Degree/Military Service/Work Exp, thats not even a "special pathway."
