Hi guys.

So I applied for DACA renewal during the window I was supposed to(my current permit expires in late October). I went to do biometrics last week July 5th and I just received a letter saying that my case had been deferred for another two years which is amazing!!! The weird thing is that it seems the decision on my case was done the same day I went to do my biometrics which I find odd considering last time I had to renew I had to get laid off because my case wasn't processed in time. So my question is, is this a common thing now? is the process this fast all of the sudden?

Yes, approvals this years have been prioritized based on expiration date, which is how it should work (my opinion).

Any renewal applications from people who have their DACA expiring in less that 150 days are being moved to the front of the line, others will have to wait until their 150 day mark.

We don't know how long this will be a thing (or how long DACA will be around), so people should submit their applications with enough time.

That's great actually! I recommend playing it safe by submitting well before the 150 days mark, let's say 1 year before expiration. This way if anything happens ( court decision ? ) and DHS stops accepting renewals your application would already be in the system and likely be processed accordingly .

Consequently you would have more chances for 2MoreYears [ got that ? ] of deferred action than if you would've waited to be within the 150 days mark. . USCIS policy of prioritizing applications based on expiration date will take care of maximizing your EAD dates

Win win situation! ...well kinda.

It's unbelievable how long it takes for them to implement this. This seems like common sense.

Kinda sucks though for people who submitted well ahead of time due to the fact this program can be ended by the courts sometime soon...i.e. me. But yes, it makes sense.

How long did it take you to get your Bio-metrics appointment? I submitted my renewal packet last Tuesday but haven't received notice that they've received it yet. I know it's been delivered through the tracking number though.

I’m on the same boat as you. I sent out my renewal packet on the 30th of June but I haven’t received a receipt. I’m getting anxious about the wait because it seems like everyone else gets their biometric appt almost immediately.

It happened to me too! I made a thread about it. It's on the front page atm.
