I have no special case. Came in the US through plane. Don’t have the i94 PAPER, but I do have the stamp on my old passport(a friend of mine did the same thing, his lawyer said the stamp is sufficient enough to prove that I came in legally). Anyhow, I married my girl that I dated for 7 years. We have a lot of photos over the years. Don’t have any court appearance or bad driving records. Do you think I should still get a lawyer and spend $5,000? I’m in NJ area. A friend told me, I could possibly ask this non profit group called UnLocal.

In this climate I would, but if money is tight, your case shouldn't be too complicated.

That’s what most people told me.. the attorney who did 2 people I know (not daca, but married their husband as citizens) got their green card in 3 months. Also, the law firm told me i just need to pay the upfront application fee and everything else I can do like installments

If you are not confident in filling out the forms, I would get a lawyer. However, if you know the process, you can simply fill out the forms and get it done.

I filled out all of my initial DACA app and the subsequent renewals by myself, including gathering evidence for the initial.

However, I'm going with a lawyer for AOS; it's the one last hurdle and the most important one. Find ones that have successfully filed AOS for DACA recipients before and registered on AILA.

For AOS I am going the lawyer route once it is time. I am going to a good one. There is just too much at stake. DACA apps its no brainier. I would say spend the money.

Your case sound very similar to mine ( i did have my i94) I went with a non for profit. If i were you, I would do the same, make sure you do your research. If you end up going to a lawyer, please make sure he/she is certified. I have seend may horror stories arround here. None regarding a non for profit. Good luck !!

AOS App is a no brainer specially for an engineer like yourself.

Why you going to pay a lawyer to read instructions and use a keyboard?

Unless you do not have time.

I've always done DACA myself but have a lawyer for AOS. I know I could've done it myself (just looking at the forms and everything) but I feel better having her expertise available. That said, is 5k the average over there?? That seems insanely expensive for a simple AOS?
