It seems like all gets checked except the requirement for passport with VISA? Did anyone apply for one? Please share your experience! Thank you!

I thought DACA recipients are able to get REAL ID, no?
I checked the DHS website(https://www.dhs.gov/secure-drivers-l...-documentation). Read the 6 pages PDF file named "Real ID Act." The special requirements section specifically mention a person "who has approved deferred action status" are eligible.

Yes, according to website that you provided and the NYS DMV website, we are eligible for it. I tried applying for a real ID 2 weeks ago at one of the DMV location in Brooklyn, but I wasn't able to get it.. They said I'm not lawfully present, even when I showed them that I'm a DACA recipient. They asked for a passport. I will go to the DMV on this coming Thursday and try again with my passport... I'm so stressed and frustrated... Will try to keep you guys posted about my experience..

I never had to show my passport or anything. I went with my SS, work permit, and proof of address.

Do you remember them specifically saying teh words "lawfully present" or did they say "legal status"? We are DEFINITELY lawfully present through our current status.

I was told no in 2 different DMVs, they are saying it should be ok, but they have’t started the process yet. So I just got the regular ID.

Ok just in case someone still is curious. NYC does not give real ID's if you have a work permit onlyy. I went to renew mines and said they will only accept greencard or passport with entry stampat the moment. The guy was very polite and went to the back to check with the supervisor and all. Sad but for now this is it

States vary with what they accept.

Looks like NY and VA do not accept EAD's for Real ID.
They want passport, birth certificate, naturalization doc or green card.
