Hi everyone, so I want some suggestions on how to deal with a family member who is a Trump supporter. Unfortunately for me, this happens to be my middle brother. So it’s not like I can avoid him forever - unfortunately. A little bit of backstory, my parents brought me to the USA at 3 years old. Since then my parents have lived here illegally, as I was doing before DACA. Now, both my younger brothers were born here, so they don’t have the same issues. However, I thought my middle brother, having both his parents and older brother in this predicament would allow him to see how bad a Trump presidency would be. Surprisingly, I found out recently he thinks Donald Trump is doing a great job and I should stop paying attention to the main stream media. Any suggestions on how to deal with this situation? It truly has hurt me how my brother seems so callous toward his less fortunate family members. Thank you all in advance.

Lmao he’s an idiot but that’s the problem with most US born kids from immigrant parents they don’t appreciate how lucky they are about being in the situation they’re in. My younger brother who is US born thinks the same way. I wonder if something happening to your parents (Ex get stopped by ICE) would be his wake up call. Hopefully that won’t happen though.

Hi jorgeag92. Thanks for the reply. It’s kind of hard with everything this administration has done/is doing. To a certain extent it’s like I’m trying to vicariously have my voice heard through his vote. Not sure if that makes sense. Feel almost like he should be out there fighting for his family. Anyways thanks for your reply and I’m definitely avoiding the topic with him from now on.

Hi Javier, sorry you’re going through the same situation. I truly feel backstabbed by him. But it’s nice to know I’m not the only one in this situation. I hope that never comes to fruition because ICE is truly becoming more and more callous toward the immigrant community. Thanks for your reply and wish 2019 brings all of us 11 million some much deserved GCs.

There are things I don’t agree eith Trump and there are things I agree with him. For example, America should really stop being the world police and stop fighting everyone’s war. The tariff war is necessary (even though I lost money in the market).

Next time tell him. “ I’m not saying your dumb and uneducated but that was a dumb and uneducated statement “. The fact of the matter is he actually is dumb and uneducated the best way to deal with these types of people is to take pitty on them.

Act like the superior person you are and dismiss him like you would any other idiot that’s the best way to handle these situation.

You would be surprise how many people in my family can feel that I think they are stupid and not once have I’ve been rude or disrespectful to them. You won’t bust Trumpanzie nonsense on me.

Win with logic, thruth and education don’t sink to their level .

We had family members that voted for Trump. They recently visited Mexico and had a change of heart after seeing how the situation was there. Sometimes people need to be reminded where they are from so they can remember who they really are.

My brother-in-law likes Trump. He's a US Citizen and got his greencard when he was still a kid.

He will never understand what life is like when you're illegal. Never.
His knowledge of immigration law is minimal. He's so naive. It's really irritating. I don't even touch the subject because I get tired of having to explain everything to him.
