Hey everybody,

So I'm now 21 and will be applying for a New York State Non-Drivers ID (calling all my fellow New Yorkers). I just need some clarification on the requirements. The proof I plan to take is the following:

Two Proofs of Identity and Legal Presence/Status:

-Mexican Passport (original, hasn't been translated to English).
-Employment Authorization Card with the I-797C Notice of Action approving my Deferred Action.
-Social Security Card.

Two Proofs of Residence/Address:

-W2 Form I just received from my employer.
-Chase Debit Card Bank Statement

Will this be enough? My main concern is the following, all the documents above have my first name and last name, however my Mexican passport has my first name and TWO last names (fathers and mothers). Hopefully this wont be an issue since the documents have my face picture.

Also do i have to have my Mexican passport translated to English? Thanks to anybody that can help!

EAD and SS would be enough.

I looked online with intent to look for how to help you, but wow, these guys want passports stamps the whole 9 yards.

Here in NC I bring my old DL, EAD, SSN. I have the ID with the gold star of approval to fly domestically.

Exactly lol. How are us DACA recipients supposed to have entry stamps on our passports when the entire purpose of DACA is that we entered unlawfully. Im so confused.

Basically you need :
1. 6 points for name,
2. social security card,
3. at least 2 proofs of address,
4. and proof of eligibility for REAL ID.

So basically:
1. Social security card is 2 points for name and proof that you have a SSN
2. Foreign Passport with Visa and I-94 (can be expired) is 3 points for name. If you EWI'd then it's worthless. You can bring it with you but don't really expect to use it.
3. EAD + I-797 for DACA is proof that you're eligible for REAL ID. Valid EAD is also 3 points for name.
4. Proofs of address, well this one just look at the list above.

So basically: Social Security Card, EAD + I-797, and two proofs of address (provided at least 1 is worth at least 1 point) would put you at 6 points you need and satisfy the above requirements.

Want my advice, do print out the MV44 form (which is the application), and print out ID44 just in case you have to argue that EAD can be used for both name points and proof that you can get REAL ID. Circle the items you're using.

Regarding your passport:
Passports are in general issued in the language(s) of the country issuing, English, and French. Like for instance the last name field will be marked: Appellidos/Surname/Nom

If your passport does not have fields in English or further translations on further pages then it has to be translated by the consulate. I did some digging and passports issued in 1991 (and probably earlier) were in Spanish, English, and French.
