I left my old job so i could get a raise at a new one and i had to show my ead. I read some horror stories from some dreamers here having a hard time with hr so i was very tense. My ead is expiring in july and its almost February so i was shaking and trembling the whole time because i feared they would be giving me shit for it.

The hr appointment came up today.
I show them my id.
The hr lady calmly types everything down.
All my info in the ead.
She is taking a bit of time.
Reviewing and looking over the card and the social several times.
I am now thinking and my mind is racing “this is it. This is where i get in trouble. She is gonna look at the expiration date and start asking some tough questions.”

But nothing happens!

She finishes her work and gives me directions for my next steps on the onboarding process.
I feel so relieved.

They cant deny you employment for having an ead. Its against the law.

HR never cares about anything until you hit/are coming close (within a month usually)to the deadline. Its never racking for sure regardless. Glad you got the job. Wish you well

congrats on your new job. depending on how big the company is, they might or might not ask you to provide renewed EAD. Usually bigger company checks.

I was pretty nervous at my first job but they just collect and scan. Then inform you to update them with a new card when time is close.

From my experience, if they are white - they don't make a fuss. They just make copies and hand it back.

When I've encountered issues or discriminatory flags, have been when HR was latino or some type of former immigrant who has adjusted their status.

Whack.
