I agree he's the best shot they have at ending the longstanding immigration stalemate, but not in the way that you think.. We're going to get something incredibly shitty like Goodlatte in exchange for the RISE Act, or ending birthright citizenship. That's only going to come if and when SCOTUS overturns the injunctions keeping DACA alive because he won't deal with Dems unless he strips them of their bargaining power.

Think about it. He shut down the government for a month and threatened national emergency powers instead of a long term DACA fix in exchange for 25b. He thinks he can siphon more consessions out of DACA.
I mean about that first part, PR stunt or not, all I know is we were given more than an extra year after being promised to be deported on Day 1. Gotta give credit for that. I really think something permanent is coming for not only DACA recipients but for even more people (fingers crossed). That 25B debacle is the tragedy of Trump. He was listening too much to Miller and Coulter. I'm hoping he has learnt a lesson by now.

I disagree with some of your points. Firstly, if you want to change birthright citizenship you need to change the constitution. That's the same thing as changing the freedom of speech or the right to bear arms. It is extremely difficult for that to happen and very unlikely.

The reason I believe that the 25 bil for DACA deal failed was because of Miller. The way to kill a bill these days is to add more stuff to it and that's exactly what he did. He added 4 pillars and saying removing birthright citizenship for any bill will kill it due to the difficulty of how hard it is to pass. I actually believe at one point Trump wanted to help the dreamers but his advisors and hard line TV critics backed him off that position.

You must realize power in congress have shifted. There is no way Trump will get more and give less when democrats control the house. Either nothing happens or something pretty good happens. The harder Trump pushes for his wall, the more concessions he will need to give for it to happen. The democrats can drown his presidency with investigations and not pass anything Trump wants for the next 2 years. To even try to get more and give less at this point is political suicide.

However, Miller and the immigration hardliners don't really care, they're just around to make a name for themselves at the cost of Trump's presidency. I honestly don't think they give a crap about Trump's success. They hold the position of wanting everything and give nothing. For them, nothing has changed.

They donated to Greg Abbott lol

This is from his Twitter:
Another illegal immigrant who illegally voted in Texas is headed to prison—this time in federal court. Illegal voting is a crime with our democracy the victim. It won’t be tolerated. We will continue to fight for integrity of the ballot box. #txlege
