I don't fully agree with you... It did make sense to not to counter him during the shutdown, because they would have said that the Democrats are shutting down the government for illegals. Trump did make an offer after the government was open, however half baked it might be and he was waiting for a counter offer... You cannot expect to pass a legislation that you wanted to pass for the last 18 years if you are not going to negotiate. They never offered the Dream Act (the one that would also include the aged out dreamers) in return for the wall. So we will never know how that would have played out. I believe couple days ago I said that the Democrats were incompetent, but I now think they are simply not sincere at all about fixing our situation.

On the other hand, I do agree with you that the only chance we have at this point is for Trump to not like the deal and shut it down again... Perhaps just not accept the DHS budget and sign the rest. CNN already has a count down clock for the partial shut down.

Personally I don't think dreamers should depend on dem's good graces to get DACA legislation through. That's why I've said the best chance is for the republicans to call them out on it. That will keep the dems honest. But to call them out on it it requires the republicans to actually give a reasonable DACA for wall deal. The deal proposed during the shutdown was worse than Goodlatte.

Honestly, the best shot at DACA legislation now is for Trump to shutdown the government in 3 days and / or Trump & republicans to offer a reasonable DACA for wall deal. The chances of that happening now is unlikely given the recent events.

“Getting blamed”.

Such a glorified excuse. If this is the mentality, rest assure, there will never be a deal. Brcause they will blame each other anyway.

There will NEVER be a deal
, period. I thought by now you of all people would figure that out.

Now that we have come to agree on that, what do you propose the democrats do?

If I see Senator Dick Durbin print pictures of Dreamers on cardboards and give speeches on the senator floor again, then I am going to head to DC and take a major shit in his office. Yes, you read that right! I am going to SHIT in his office! That is what I am going to do! And I do not care what you think of it!

What did your savior Dick Durbin do in the committee that decided to give Trump over a billion dollars for the wall? I thought AOC was different, but it seems like she is the same, but dressed in a different clothing. Instead of trying to negotiate with Trump, she is protesting in front of the White House!

So the aged out Dreamers won't get any relief again... The DACA recipients will still be in the limbo... Great!

I agree with you, but dont stress yourself so much about it, Btw Doge and libertarian arent paid trolls, they just dont take all of this seriously.

If you assume dems have no spine, then you shouldn't be surprised when they cave. In fact you should expect them to do so. It doesn't make sense for you to expect them to fight for dreamers as they've already been badly criticized during the 2018 shutdown. Dems learned that people supported the dreamers but shutting the government down for them is bad.

Revealing dems are using dreamers for votes must be done by the republicans. To do so, republicans have to offer a decent deal and the dems just deny it. But the crappier the deal they offer (like worse than goodlatte), then it's easier for dems to deny.

At this point, what dems are doing is unknown. Do they have some plan up their sleeve? Who knows. Are they planning a fight for dreamers on some other legislation or some event that would trigger dems to fight for dreamers? I wouldn't depend on it. Are they using dreamers for votes? Can't tell because republicans are offering bad deals.

If Trump throws in some wildcards, it'll bring some clarity of what the dems are thinking but at this point it's extremely hard to tell.

If Democrats make a counter offer it will end in a 4 pillar style bill from the right that only benefits current DACA beneficiaries. We need the Dream Act to cover everyone. Not some 3 year bullshit patch. You wouldn’t even qualify for that. Personally, I don’t care if the wall gets funded so long as we get a reasonable Dream Act like bill.

I personally feel like even if i dont qualify, something needs to get done permanently. Its worse to have daca people on limbo and dacaless dreamers waiting and hoping for years to come with no solution, than something for a few dreamers but more possible. The time is now. Dacaers cant be third class citizens till their death.
