Does declaring an emergency bypass that?

If this bill passes, with either Trump supporting it or by a veto proof majority, it becomes law. If it becomes law, it undermines Trump's emergency declaration. It's one thing to declare a national emergency for money but it's another to declare national emergency for money AND to suspend laws passed by Congress. This is a huge red line. Just imagine that any president can do this. Congress no longer matters and all powers are concentrated to the president. It's insanity. How the fuck are they willing to go that far but won't offer a legitimate DACA for wall deal?

If he signs this bill, it's worse for him because he literally just agreed on requiring local community support to build the wall. Even if he gets 5.7 billion for the wall via emergency declaration, if local community leaders don't want it, it won't be built. You fight so hard for 5.7 billion for something that, if a local community don't want it, won't be built.

How many republicans support seizing private lands to build a wall? It's literally 0.

I don't get why this bill and the national emergency declaration are happening at the same time if it contradicts each other.

Hopefully this is a plan to put all the blame on Trump: McConnell and the Republicans are seeing some writing on the wall and plan to dump Trump soon.

What about the whole Paxton stuff. Isn't something relating to that coming up too?

This means clean Dream Act should clear House soon.

Senate will clear but barely. That’s good enough.

Truthfully, Paxton wants to give Trump more leverage on immigration. If Trump does emergency declaration, it'll be too late.

Looking at what Congress is about to pass.... I do not think something major will happen in Texas Courts. If it does, you have Dems controlling the house, pissed off senate republicans (which is by far more immigrant friendly compared to the house before dem control) to handle the issue. If Paxton pushes this really hard, you might actually see a clean dream act pass the congress.

Also, Congress can pass a joint resolution to rescind a presidential emergency declaration. It'd start in the house, the it goes to the senate. A joint resolution will have to come up to a vote because it is privileged (McConnell can't block it). Trump can veto but congress can override that veto.

It really puts republicans between a rock and a hard place.
