Nobody knows how this will play out except Judge Hanen.

He could literally rule "DACA is 100% illegal and is terminated for everyone right now."

That's not likely to happen, but it is a possibility.

Does the ruling matter with all the other injunctions allowing renewals to continue?

Would the Texas ruling stand or would everything go to SCOTUS?

If Hanen gives a ruling or injunction, it would go to the Court of Appeals as a next step. Because DACA has been ruled by other courts and is going through other Appeals courts. The defense could try the Supreme Court

There would still be conflicting rulings. Daca will continue until reviewed by scotus. Paxton is doing this for show because he knows nothing will change. Chill guys. Everything will be fine.

Can you imagine how bad it will look if they just invalidate 800,000 ead? Lol. It might even kick off a recession. After declaring a national emergency, dealing with daca is the last thing trump wants at this moment.

The GOP literally doesn’t care - if the shutdown is anything to go by.

That's my assumption...this ruling won't change anything. Conflicting rulings could push the supreme court to take this case sooner than later, but renewals will continue. Of course, there's also no harm if you don't want to take the chance and send your renewal way ahead of time.

I was under the assumption this case goes about it differently. While the previous cases were about DACA not being ended correctly, this one goes straight for the throat that it wasn't legal to begin with, so the other injunctions won't affect this?

The thing is, I think Paxton is pretty independent from the rest of the GOP in regards to trying to fuck us. This might look bad for the GOP, and they may not want it to happen, but I don't think Paxton is operating under any instructions, and he just has a personal hard on to fuck us over.

The GOP does care about any future shutdowns though. They all signed that current spending bill really quickly with a veto proof majority. They know how bad a second shutdown looks.

Is it really conflicting rulings though? Previous rulings just say it wasn't ended properly. If they ruled on this one, it would straight up say it wasn't legal to begin with.

I don't think so. The timing of when Paxton complained and sued seems pretty coordinated.

This particular one happened right around negotiations for wall funding. If he sued after Trump signed the spending bill, I'd agree.

I just think he's trying to help the Trump administration get a better deal on immigration and he's throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks.
