My almost 30 year journey to this point today, when I was finally approved for adjustment of status to permanent legal US resident. I am so happy to get to this point, finally I no longer feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Short back story I was brought to the us at the age of 5 (EWI) in1989, found out at 14 that I was here illegally when I couldn't apply for summer youth jobs. In 2016 over came my fears of "WHAT IF" and applied for DACA because i felt as Obama was leaving office what if this is my last chance, I didn't want to spend my whole life feeling stuck. Through research on this site and immihelp.com I found out about advance parole and took the biggest risk of my life and traveled December, 2017 with advance parole (after DACA was recinded). Came back with a legal entry with advance parole and was able to adjust through my USC husband.

Timeline
Daca/EAD approved may, 2016
Ap approved June 2017 (travel DEC/2017)
AOS app accepted 03/05/2018
Aos/EAD approved 07/18/18
Interview letter 01/18/2019
Interview complete 02/26/2019 approved on the spot.

The interview went well lasted about 30 minutes. The immigration officer was very nice lady from the virgin islands. She asked questions from the i485 form, bio information, about our family, our kids, when, how we met, who proposed and why we chose each other to get married to. Showed our joint assets bank account, Life/home/car insurance, weddingand family pictures. The whole interview was very easy going, we spent part of it talking about where you can get good Caribbean food from in the area, the IO even recommended a great seafood place that we ended up going to right after our interview. Recieved an email/text alert card in production less than an hour after the interview was over.

Thanks to everyone on this forum and immihelp.com. posting your stories truly help me, on this journey to finally adjust my status. Thanks, Im forever grateful.

Thanks everyone. I recieved my 10 year green card a week after I was approved on my interview. ^I will never forget my journey to this point and the struggle to become legal in America, because I still have close family and my fellow dreamers everywhere that need a path to citizenship. I'm rooting for us all because I know the struggle.
