For those that have gone through the process, this is the lawyer im using and her price breakdown. Whats your opinion on price and also would anybody mind swinging by their website and telling me if they see any red flags and/or reccomendations? I dont see anything wrong, but Ive also never had to deal with a lawyer! Karam immiration is the law firm but im using Nina Amadi as my lawyer.

Jesus christ that's a lot of money. I thought $4,000 was a lot for an AOS case.

How complicated is your case? Are you just getting married?

Thats 4x the amount I paid ($2000 for overstay so did not have to file I-601).

If you are an overstay, I would recommend to apply on your own. If EWI, then get another lawyer or contact a couple other attorneys and get more quotes for their fees and compare.

When my family petition became current and I was going to investigate how to go forward, I was asked for a $4,000 RETAINER before he would even spend a weekend going over my case again. Mind you that this is in addition to paying him during last 20 years for working on the rest of the family's cases, my getting a half hour consultings here or there, and gathering information for expanded DACA to beat the rush, etc. so it's not as if he wasn't already familiar with the case but my case is so complicated that before he even talks to me, he has to review all the years of notes (and charges me). I'm sure every time he answers an email I send him he charges me $150 off that retainer. If I ever go forward with my case, it'll probably cost me around $15,000.

So in my world, your lawyer is on the cheaper side. Hell, she's not even charging you all at once. In your world though it depends on how complicated your case is. None of us can know for sure, but with the laws and rules changing daily under Trump, lawyer costs have gone up in the last 2 years so what someone paid for their case isn't going to translate to yours. Also, few things are routine for us unless you're a visa overstay who got married to a USC and have DACA now. Getting waivers, 245i interviews, etc. will cost you.

We're not even married yet. Im a EWI and I dont have any complications. My biggest thing is that my lawyer has 4+ years of experience, but the firm has 10+ years. I know im paying more but is it worth it with the amount of experience? I asked her about the price and she said that im paying more because of her building a very thorough file and not just a "file filler" and will also be trained for an interview. I will get more quotes though. Thanks everyone for your help so far

EWI is a kind of a big complication because you're not entitled to adjust your status if you had legal status. That's probably 1/3 the cost right there.

I know in this website, everybody is an armchair lawyer but a lot of us have complicated cases, especially those with removal orders, etc. so it's a landmine out there. For me, having had an incompetent lawyer when we first arrived here who is partially responsible for my current mess, I'd personally want a firm that has been around for a while, knows the local immigration officers and their tendencies, etc. As such, if I have to pay a premium for someone with 30 years of experience, so be it. If you have DACA and can still bounce back from a screwup, then it may not be.

Just remember that lawyers are people and new graduates have a shit ton of student loans so they may bite off more than they can chew.

Sounds like I need to do some more quote research. Im jist in a hurry because she advised be to get a submission in before october 15, because of the "public charge" change possibly making is harder to get approved.

Yeah that's another matter too unfortunately. It will cause more work for the lawyers which means more cost passed on to you. Not to mention possibly having to give a bond to them. Hopefully, there will be a lawsuit to stop that.

Any case that need to file I-601A is complicated IMO.
