I was just thinking that the new employer may start asking questions since my current DACA EAD expires within 5 months.

Update on the situation: the current employer counter offered. 30% raise with guaranteed promotion in December with direct mentoring opportunity with the EVP (she sits on the executive board of my company).

The new offer is 50% more pay and I would travel domestically a lot - which I enjoy!

I am officially confused!!
First of all congrats!

I completely understand when you say that it is at least somewhat worrisome that the new employer may start asking questions regarding your expiration date in 5 months. In fact, I was considering sticking out one more busy season (would be my 4th in audit)and start looking once the renewal hopefully comes in For April 2020 -2022.

However, I think Vft1008 is right and we should not let that play into our decision given that we have the proper permit to work. I started looking at least to get a feel for the market.

Thanks for all the thoughts you guys!

I decided to stick it out with my current employer for now. They came back with 25% raise (vs. 55% with the new company) and 14% bonus with gaurateed promotion in December. There is better work-life balance at my current company.

Once I get the promotion, my market value goes up $20-25K so I can cash in on a similar offer next year. I will have my EAD renewed by then, we will know what happens with DACA and I will have time to obtain my certification required in my field which also bumps me another $5 - $7K

Congrats on the salary increase. You made your decision so no looking back now. I would, however, caution you to keep your eyes open and be ready to look elsewhere if things start to change with your management. No matter how good of a relationship you think you have be cautious. I've seen your scenario play out many times.
