Korea is hypercompetitive. If you didn't go to the best school or don't have the best job you're screwed.

Plus many of them dodged the draft so they may be liable for prison time on top of service.

Uhh, probably because they’ve lived in the United States for their entire lives and have developed strong ties to this country whether it be social, cultural, academic, career-wise, etc.

They are essentially Americans, in terms of cultural identity, with improper documentation. It’s not as easy to move to a foreign country as it seems. If it was, then Dreamers from first-world nations would move back to their countries in a mass.

So again - why chose to remain illegally in the USA when you could have a superior life back home?

Nobody is saying the obvious so I'll just say it.

They can't compete in the hypercompetitive society of Korea. Instead of going home, they had no other option to stay once their visas ran out. Instead they just switched to DACA, but many of them think they are too good to do the work of an illegal, which they are.

They would get eaten alive in Korea. Japan is a better nation anyway.

Oh I misread your comment sorry. Im choosing to stay because like all of us, this is the only country I know. As long as DACA is alive and I'm able to work here, I'll stay. Im also working for my pension. If for some reason, DACA gets removed I would have to go back regretfully. Upside to that, I have a lot of saving to start life elsewhere unlike pre-DACA life. No more living under shadow. Another thing to consider is that I would have to serve 1.5 years in military and that's 1.5 years too long wasted during my prime. Hyper competitive or not, I'm not worried about finding a job.

If I came from a first world nation I'd be there yesterday, living my life to the max, using my american degree, and enjoying all the rights, privileges, and duties to my nation.

Instead, they are essentially living like rodents under the floorboards, with hope in their mouths because at any moment they can get thrown out the US if shit hits the fan in just the right way. If a dreamer gets caught being a terrorist, then all shit will hit the fan. Luckily 99% of dreamers are from nations that believe in God, not the moon-god. Perpetually worried about documentation and if ICE will show up at their door. This is no way to live.
