I tried applying for a real ID as it sounded by the website that those with an EAD are eligible to apply. When I went to Secretary of State , I was told that I have to have a green card to apply. I live in Michigan . Is this true for Michigan ?? I simply wanted one in case I want to travel by plane before the law kicks in Michigan which would be October 2020 . At this moment , is having a passport necessary to travel to other states by plane? Or am I still safe to use my license ?

Southfield office. You should try another location because according to the website, we should be able to get one.

My mom has Honduras TPS and even with the auto EAD extension, the same sos denied her to renew her drivers license because she doesn’t have the actual card yet but a document from the USCIS website explaining that the EAD have been automatically extended .

I don’t expire until May. Did you try renewing yours again at a different office?

Your mom should be able to renew once she get her actual EAD card. Base on the requirements, the letter isn’t enough, have to wait for the card.

I have a real ID and live near in the Detroit suburbs.

I went to 21572 Ecorse Rd, Taylor, MI 48180

I never heard of anyone having issues with a Real ID.

The only ID we can't get is the one that serves a ls a border crossing card for people who work or live in Canada. You obviously need to be an American citizen for that one.

I have what is known as a "RealID" from North Carolina a REPUBLICAN state. North Carolina was also one of the few states to try and prevent us from getting drivers licenses, just like the shithole known as Arizona.

Then when they couldnt get their way, they tried to give us an ID with a bright pink fuchia color on the top border. So that anyone a mile away can see a bright big signal of DACA.

I used my RealID to travel along the Midwest for work, to fly to LA for work purposes, a cop stopped my associate for driving too fast in the Midwest. Got all of our IDs, spent a little longer looking at my legal status on the back of North Carolina ID but ultimately he let us go.

He gave my associate a ticket for speeding.

Moral of the story is if you are colored, you should get a white friend to hang around with.
