Take it. Move up the ladder and leverage your English for an abroad position. Eg. Canada or Europe.

They offered me 6k Reais per month. That's 1.5k dollars. I used to make 7k post tax.

Then I asked for 10k Reais (2.5k dollars), which is already low enough. I thought I was being reasonable, but to them I must have come off as too greedy.

The thing is, I asked for that amount BEFORE they made me the offer, and they didn't object to it. Then they hit me with their low offer by surprise.

I feel bad. I don't think I'm better than anyone else and deserve more. But damn, the salary difference is just huge, and the cost of living is NOT cheap (this job is in a capital city). I do speak practically-native English though, which they badly need.

I should have humbled myself, taken the low offer, and impressed them. In a year I'd be making my 10k Reais.

What do you think I should have done?

I think your dumbass should've stayed up in the States cause once Trump is defeated they will secure the borders AND fix the immigration problem to everyone's satisfaction.
