Colorado Real ID

Does anyone know if DACA can get a real id in Colorado? The documentation online is terrible

I’m sure you can. However the expiration on your REAL ID will match the expiration date on you’re work permit. So if you have a 5 year license might as well keep that and just use you’re passport for other purposes.

What state/states if any offer 5 year licenses?

Well, I’m sure it does...However, if Colorado is one of those states that gives you a DL for like 5+ years (like CT) and not 2 years (validity of EAD, you might want to rethink getting the real ID. Because what will happen in the case that DACA is cancelled? That will leave you with a real ID that will expire when your EAD expires. Besides just use your EAD or passport to fly.

Connnecticut. That’s why I have no intentions of getting a real ID (DACA recipients can get those but I’m assuming they would be valid for only the time period of the EAD).

Can we use EAD to fly? Would that raise some question on security check?

I think the EAD is a federal ID so you should be ok.

It shouldn't cause problems cause EADs are not just issued to illegals, but also to foreigners with valid visas and authorization to work. I saw a korean with an EAD.

Yes EAD is on list for acceptable forms of ID.

Colorado gave me a 5 year license. It used to match my EAD expiration. Not sure what happened, but I guess I was lucky.
