U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services today announced that it will reuse previously submitted biometrics in order to process valid Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, extension requests due to the temporary closure of Application Support Centers (ASC) to the public in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This announcement is consistent with existing USCIS authorities regarding the agency’s ability to reuse previously submitted biometrics.

Applicants who had an appointment scheduled with an ASC on or after the March 18 closure or has filed an I-765 extension will have their application processed using previously submitted biometrics. This will remain in effect until ASCs are open for appointments to the public.

Does that entitle a refund for biometric fees.
It's a scam to begin with since your biometrics
Don't change

I guess the main concern is, if I send my application TODAY, who is at their offices to get receive it later this week??!!
I have no problem sending the whole amount... But if they are using my old fingerprints, should I send the money order for less?!
Each time this is guessing game. Last time, I sent my application super early to avoid the August 8 fiasco... that was a guessing game into itself.

ANYONE sent their documents within the last... 20 days??

My sister and I sent our applications yesterday and they should arrive by later today. I believe all the official notice says that in-person services are suspended, not that they were completely shut down.

Quote:
USCIS Temporary Office Closure Extended to April 7
On March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services temporarily suspended routine in-person services to help slow the spread of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). USCIS plans to re-open our offices on April 7, unless the public closures are extended further. USCIS staff are continuing to perform duties that do not involve contact with the public. However, USCIS will provide emergency services for limited situations. To schedule an emergency appointment, contact the USCIS Contact Center.

USCIS domestic field offices will send notices to applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments and naturalization ceremonies impacted by this temporary closure.

Exactly. This was the conclusion that immediately came to me yesterday when I saw this announcement.

Nah, mainly because there's 2 parts to biometrics:
1. Actual fingerprinting
2. FBI background check

While this doesn't come up very often (and really only comes up in VAWA cases), a stamped biometrics sheet is enough evidence to prove that you had an FBI background check done. When I submitted mine they basically sent me a notice that they have my biometrics and background check on file and did not request any further evidence of non-criminality.

Anyone know if they'll use our pictures from two years ago or will they finally use the passport photos some of us send with our applications?
