Hi Dreamer fam. I have a dilemma I need your advice on. I have a Job offer I am really excited about. However the start date isn't until July 16th on which I would obviously have to provide my EAD (which just got renewed and expires in May 2022). My worry is that The Supreme Court could rule DACA unconstitutional and the new place won't accept my EAD card, even though it doesn't expire until 2022.

The alternative would be to stay at my current employer. They already have my EAD on file and I know would not look into it again so I would be safe until 2022 .

My question is what would you all do in my situation? I'm leaning towards just staying but it will be kind of awkward since I already signed and returned the offer letter and told my supervisor last night I was going to leave... I'll have to make a bunch of apologetic emails and phone calls but I guess its worth it for the peace of mind?? Let me know what ya'll think.

Are the benefits a lot higher? What I did when I jumped ship from my old job was compared. My new job paid about 20k more a year so that is why I changed jobs.

The new job overall is a bit better but that's not the concern... I'm worried that the Supreme Court ruling could invalidate our cards and I wont be accepted...

If I had started today it wouldn't be an issue. I would have presented my card, which as of now is valid, and be all set. But since its not until mid July, that potential scenario worries me...

As long as Trump does not cancel the EAD RIGHT AWAY, you should be able to work till 2022 - at the new or current company.

If the new jobs excites you, go for it. The risk is the same!

EDIT - All experts say Trump is very unlikely to invalidate DACA EADs right away.

I doubt they are invalidating the EADs even if they rule against DACA.

Not it goes till next week.

If the benefits outway the old job by a lot I would take it.
if scotus rules against us it probably would be a wind down.

You could tell your new employer if you could let them know after June

You're good. It is HIGHLY unlikely that they'll just make all our EAD invalid on the spot.

I also just accepted a new job and mine expires late 2021
