Just say you are legal to work without sponsorship. A lot of interviews didn't even bother to ask my status, they just assume I was born here.

I’ve been a little upset for the past few days. I’m currently waitlisted for a professional school. This school has an online forum that’s independent from the school. Recently people who have lower standardized exams and GPA than me were pulled off the wait list while I was left in the dark. I completely understand letting those with higher scores get in but skipping over me to let the people with the lower scores get in ? That completely undermines my work, because this program is difficult to get into. Plus I’m an alumni of this school, I should in theory get first preference since I’m a product of this school, (this was said to me by an admissions counselor). The school hasn’t said anything because I’m technically still waitlisted but I have a strong feeling DACA might be playing a role in their decision. It would make sense that they would rather have a citizen or a PR. And yes I’m waitlisted so I still have a chance but school starts in a month, it’s nearly impossible for me to get in. The class is full, it’ll take a miracle for me to get in.

This has really been messing with my mental state. I came so close to my dream just to fail. I can’t go thru with this mental torture another application cycle, I’ve already applied 3 cycles in a row, and to as many schools that “accept DACA” which is not a lot in this field.

All of us dreamers know we are at a disadvantage which is why we aim higher than everyone else. We’re all such fucking over achievers that it’s almost unbelievable. But damn, it hurt so fucking much when we fail even after all that work, even after scoring higher than others.
I used to feel the same way about my status. It did in a sense hold me back. Perhaps I would be even more successful if I didn't have my status hold me back. I envy all my friends for being able to take the straight and easy path, while I had to find alternatives and take the long route. It was unfair that I had to work harder and jump throw hoops to get what they could so easily. My family had to pay out of state tuition while most of my friends practically went to my college for free. I got accepted to internships and then had to turn them down because of not having status. My degree I had to get a internship to graduate too so I was fucked. To graduate I had to get a unpaid internship that didn't check my status and do admin work all summer. It was boring, it sucked, and it was unfair was how I looked at it. However, that internship at this physician practice was the main reason my first company wanted me to work for them. The company ended up being the top healthcare IT consulting firm. A 40-70 hour work week was a breeze from what I was used to working. The pay became better, opportunities became better, and I progressed faster than my coworkers because I didn't mind going the extra mile. I was so accustom to doing more. Today, I'm doing better than most of my peers in terms of career, income, businesses, and living standard.

Keep your head up, everything is a matter of perspective. Look at closed doors as a opportunity to pursue a different path. You never know, you could look back at this waitlist/rejection as the best thing that ever happened to you.

Keep trying to look like a snowflake showcasing your DACA status and you will have a bad time.
Natural selection at its finest.

This is the correct answer.

“I’m authorized to work for any employer without sponsorship.”

Unless the employer is the Federal Government, it can’t require (or even ask) about your citizenship until an offer has been extended.
