I took 3 years of tax transcripts (for myself, husband, and co-sponsor if applicable), they only asked me for the most recent one on the interview however sometimes the officer will ask you for older ones so always take more just in case. You will also need all vaccination records for your physical, they will ask you if you have been diagnosed with anything major such as cancer etc. I have lupus but was not asked to show any paperwork although I did have it just in case, however if you take any medication you will be asked to produce the prescription.

Also about the background check, you will need a police certificate from your country of origin even if you were a minor last time you were there. They are only good for one year so if you want to get one be careful about the timeline. I got mine in Juarez but you might be able to obtain one from the USA through your consulate. If you have a criminal record in the USA you will also need that documentation along with any court paperwork. I do not have a record but I went ahead and got a background check done and got a clearance letter just in case.

Good luck!

It’s been awhile...Has anyone been approved during the pandemic and gone to their appointment or still have an appointment for this year? I know some countries are allowing travel now.

A lot of U.S. embassies and consulates are closed around the world.

Guys, this is getting crazy. It is like the 6th or so time the processing time for 601A is increased, it is up to 15 months now, and the date to inquiry by pushed back May 25 again (it was on 2nd week of June last time I checked). it seems as if in the last 3 months, no movement or progress has been made and only gone back.

Thanks for the helpful info. I do not have any of my immunization records and clinic is closed and Dr is now retired. However, i found out i can get a MMR Titer test to confirm what i am already immune to which can serve in liu of the immunization records.

So, we sent what was required on the RFE and 601A waiver is now approved. We just started to use a lawyer for the RFE. We had already sent the documents requested to the NVC. They had scheduled an interview but my husband couldn’t go since he didn’t have the waiver yet. Our lawyer is now saying there are additional documents to send to the NVC when we already had...and to prepare for the interview at the embassy part, they’re proposing a $3k charge. Is this charge normal? Has anyone used the lawyer for this part?

You're just going to have to ask him which other additional documents, besides the ones you have already sent, need to be sent now. You may also call the NVC directly and ask them what the next step is.

Since the NVC was ready to send you to an interview before, sounds to me like you or the USCIS, needs to notify the NVC that the waiver has been approved and now you're ready for a new interview date.

With a little bit or research you could get the rest of the steps done on your own. The I601A was the hardest part.

So, the lawyer wasn’t aware we already sent the documents to NVC and that the interview was scheduled before. She just said we have to turn in our 2019 tax return and notify the NVC...but she wants to charge $1750 for the prep.

Also another question to those who got approved, do they send the official document separately? We just received the letter that says it’s approved, but not the official 601A waiver.
