Why are people sending renewals one year before expiration?

These people are the ones that caused the 1 year expiration. Someone at USCIS must of looked at the data and was like wow they are willing to pay $495 a year, might as well lower the expiration date to one year and increase revenue by 100%.

Processing delays, instability of the program, and the fact that there's no automated extension for C33 EADs.

If we got the 180 day automated extension when a receipt notice is printed people would be way more likely to file I-765 a bit closer to the expiration date.

If we had some kind of a reassurance that the government won't pull the rug from under us we'd similarly file a bit closer to the 180 day mark. Hell, I still remember the injunction in early 2017 where I filed 14 months before expiration because I had no guarantee that this injunction would hold for long. I think at the time I was one of the earliest renewals on this site, people were outright surprised that it got accepted.

Mine expires Sept. and I sent it in last month. I'm ready to quit my job anyway but was hearing of peeps getting theirs maybe 2 months ago due to expedited biometrics.

I received mine a few days ago, lost 5 months but it's for 2 years.

I can confirm I got two years. But yeah card was already in production so it might only give some people peace of mind.
