This is from TSA:

Adult passengers 18 and over must show valid identification at the airport checkpoint in order to travel.

Driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent)
U.S. passport
U.S. passport card
DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents
Permanent resident card
Border crossing card
State-issued Enhanced Driver’s License
Federally recognized, tribal-issued photo ID
HSPD-12 PIV card
Foreign government-issued passport
Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card
Transportation worker identification credential
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential
Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)

I personally haven't traveled with an EAD but it is acceptable per the above.

DL is plenty. EAD will work just fine. Might get weird looks from TSA since they are minimum wage workers who only know how to check for things they are used to... having said, that - its a valid ID. Have fun!

I travel quite often through out the US I even been to Hawaii and Puerto Rico a few times and for those two I only use my TX DL but for inside the US I use my foreign passport bc we sometimes travel with my parents who don’t have status so we all just use passports. Never been questioned or stopped.

I haven't tried it yet. But once Real ID fully kicks in, I'm going to try to use my EAD instead of my passport. I'll bring both just in case.

What's wrong with Real ID?? Is it because it's only 1 year tied to your EAD? The limited ID grants about 5 years until expiration BUT you generally don't even need to show passports or proof if you have a Real ID DL

Correct me if I'm wrong

Real ID DL expires the same day as your status, so you might as well get a non-Real ID DL and renew it every 5 or 8 years rather than keep it renewing it every year or two.

Considering that your EAD counts as a Real ID for entering federal buildings or flying domestically you might as well use that instead.

Indeed. I would not get a Real ID, especially if you're from a state like mine that gives 5/6 year DL's to everyone. Just travel with your passport or EAD when Real ID kicks in. What if you get a Real ID and DACA is struck down ....you will end up with no DL, a potentially catastrophic situation.

What a loop hole in the law... You can still use your state ID, did you get issued that at least...?
