Fine: 'illegal' immigrants should pay full tuition at Florida public universities

State Rep. Randy Fine (R—Palm Bay) Thursday introduced a bill in the Florida legislature that would repeal a 2014 law that extended in-state tuition benefits at public colleges and universities to undocumented immigrants living in the Sunshine State.

Calling the benefit a "$45million subsidy," Fine said it ought to be stricken as Florida faces "hard choices" to balance the budget amid the coronavirus pandemic. The cost figure he said is based off of estimates by the Department of Education and Board of Governors.

While tuition costs vary at different public colleges and universities, in-state fees are typically two to three times less expensive than out of state rates and are less than the actual cost of educating students. The shortfall is mostly covered by state funding for public institutions of higher education.

.... so their answer is to force thousands out of college? How does forcing us to pay in-state tuition balance their budget? Are they providing financial aid?

The collective IQ of Florida has dropped since 2016 and their red wave.

That guy adds no valuable information. It's always the same line, over and over. Good thing we can block people on this site.

Elitist much?

College students these days couldn't find their own butthole if you paid them a million dollars.

Leftist propaganda is rampant on college campuses.

The idea that only people with college degrees are "smart" and capable of critical thinking is...well elitist.

After all, this is just a proposal.

Y'all can just chill the hell out lol

Thousands of bills are proposed all accross the political spectrum.

But that doesn't matter to some of you.

How did that reconciliation legalizing work out for ya?
