Paperclip a WalMart gift card to the front of your packet to better your chances of it getting picked over others. =P

"Yet no matter how busy or distracted people with DACA status might be, the need to maintain eligibility for the program is never far from our thoughts — everything we’ve worked for hinges on it. DHS processing of DACA renewal applications in the past took, on average, 1.3 months, but I liked to file three months in advance, just to be sure.

I filed for the two-year renewal and work authorization in April, well ahead of their July expiration. In June, I relocated to New York City, where I had been accepted into an emergency medicine post-graduate residency program. I worked for a month — with mounting alarm, as the expiration of my DACA status and work permit approached.

And then they did expire. Per DACA requirements, I have been placed on an unpaid leave of absence, unable to care for patients. It turns out that because the pandemic caused long shutdowns of many government offices, DHS has fallen far behind in processing DACA renewal applications: It can take up to 5.5 months for the agency to approve eligibility that lasts just two years."

Their July expiration...

They did expire...

Their... They...

No homie, it is YOUR expiration

Just from his/her choice of words and tone, you can tell this dude is cutely entitled

Everyone knew you could send in 5 months or even earlier from expiration

Wtf is this dude smoking

I sent mine about 4 months before expiration (mine was gonna expire sept 13th, so lost about 2 months) and was approved within 3 weeks, sent everything to the Chicago lockbox. Shit was super fast this time around.

I always send 8-10 months in advance. The extra fee and losing a few months is better than having it lapse. My current application actually just hit the 150 day mark. Waiting to see if they will approve in next couple week or I have to start calling to escalate.

Just seems irresponsible to me. It’s cutting it close. I am paranoid and always send it in like almost a year earlier. I do lose a few months but at least I don’t lose my job and status and have peace of mind. It’s like going to an appointment or your job on time, you always give yourself extra minutes for your commute because something can happen and there can be delays. You don’t estimate that commute exactly but give yourself extra time. Always expect the unexpected and better to be safe than sorry.

Some of like to live life more dangerously or "I-f***ed-up-let's-just-hope-it works-out-lol". I always sleep a bit longer if I feel too tired, notice I'll be kind of late to work, and tell myself "I'll just drive a little fast today" (I've gotten 4 speeding tickets since 2014, one was pretty serious citation).

Same with DACA. I am more responsible now, but for my first renewal in 2014, I sent it in like 6 weeks before expiration and ended up with expired DACA for like a month. Some of us just need to get in trouble to learn.

F..k that noise!

I sent mine with over 6 months in advance. I'd rather lose some time on my card than losing my job.
