Yes. There may be Dems objecting to the overall scope of legalization, but if Parliamentarian rules in support of legalization, Dems are not going to come against immigration in general.

UPDATE FROM SENATOR DURBIN TODAY (09.14.21):

"The judiciary committee is the first committee into the reconciliation pool. Literally we are in the Byrd Bath as its known as in the Senate, where presentation is being made on behalf of the provisions that we've offered for changing immigration in the United States.

That matter is now being considered by the Senate Parliamentarian. Many of you have asked me repeatedly whether she's going to rule or how is she going to rule and the answer to either of those questions is - that is entirely in her (parliamentarian's) hands at this point.

We believe immigration is a critical element in reconciliation for three reasons:

First reason: how many years have we all complained that the immigration system in America is broken and needs to be fixed. It's been thirty five years since the Congress passed an immigration reform bill signed into law by President Ronald Reagan. It is time for us to again address the needs when it comes to immigration.

Secondly, this immigration bill does have a cost associated with it. If more and more people become legal permanent residents, they qualify for some government programs. But all of the leading economists agree that every dollar that is paid out in a federal program to a legal permanent resident, ten dollars are returned to the economy because they'll be able to work, buy homes, and be an integral part of the future as our economy grows.

And the final issue is the one that's obvious. We need workers in America. These people are in America already. They are the dreamers, the TPS, the agriculture workers, they are the ones in the essential workforce who have kept us whole during this pandemic. To bring them into a legal status gives them a chance to be a functioning part of this economy in a real way.

y'all don't get it. Gridlock is what they're paid for, otherwise they'd have to legislate and that could endanger their donors.

Yeah, the fact that so much is riding on this person, doesn't bode well in my opinion. I mean it'll give Dems a scapegoat.

Been saying this from Day 1....Chucky and Nancy are known for this...They will not let go of the Dreamer issue (aka pass something) easily....They will make every attempt to prolong this as much as possible....They DO NOT want Dreamers to be legalized...at least for now....

Yeah, the same way they used the DA back in late 2000's and early 2010's. I hate to agree with you guys but I have a feeling this could be right. On the other hand, this could be the last chance they get to pass something and I am hopeful they will be forced to water down the bill to at least only include DACA recipients.

Idk man. Let's hope for the best but prepare for disappointment. They know we are the perfect tool to play political football with and it won't be too easy to just blame it on a name. That's not how people and organizations view this. It's all blue vs red. A guy from the blue team killed it? It's the whole team's fault.

Oh ....I am convinced....The ONLY way to GC for Dreamers is via marriage adjustment. Congress...especially under Democrats...are not going to be passing Dream Act.....Too much for them to lose.
