The thing that blows my mind is that ICE detainees have also refused vaccination. It's like your life is already screwed up without catching COVID and now you're in a building with a ton of others who came from god knows where and exposed to god knows what and this is the last place you'd want to catch COVID and die. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/loc...250950029.html

But anyway, I'm looking for rational reasons of why people aren't vaccinated myself. Sadly there are people in my own family who refuse. "there is 99% survival rate" doesn't account for getting permanent lung, heart, or brain damage.

Hey guys, I’m vaccinated and just tested positive 9/14. Having symptoms headaches, pains, loss of smell and taste. Runny nose etc. I knew about breakthrough cases and I feared them and now it happened to me. Be careful and wear a mask regardless of any local rules. However, I am glad to be vaccinated because I will be okay.

Well I don’t think the ICE detainees trust that the vaccine they’re getting is legit. For good reason. The US has conducted some pretty horrid experiments on detainees. Hell, they were giving hysterectomies to ICE detainees just last year.

But if you’re not in a situation like that, yeah. There’s no excuse to not get the vaccine.

I think the detainee is a special case. Some people there don't trust the US government, worrying they might die because the govt is out to get them. But you are right though... you are packed in some shit hole cell overnight before teleporting the next day (or longer since Biden has taken over the office), and the chance of dying from catching covid is 10x higher than dying from bad vaccine reaction.

Not an anti-vaxxer just can't be assed to get the shot, I just mask up whenever I'm around people and I'm like 95% sure I had covid in early 2020, worst cold of my life.

This whole pandemic makes me disappointed in US's approach to health. I hoped that it'd normalize the attitudes of: If you're sick stay the fuck home, if you have to go out mask up and don't spread your germs. Looks like neither of those things will happen and a cold going around the office like it's an unavoidable fact of life will just remain the fact of life.
