The contempt for the Senate as an institution meant for bipartisan and compromise on here is astounding as well as alarming.

I want to be a citizen of this country because our system of government is special.

Today is a Democratic issue that "needs" only 51 votes, tomorrow it could be a right wing attempt to enforce immigration laws at all costs.

I told you so
Government is not special. You’re just a fucking house slave. Keep stroking the Republican penis it will get you far.

Honestly, my head expected the depressing news, but my heart was still hopeful.

I should stop commenting here. There is someone who says he will work to elect GOP candidates... I don't know what kind of mental gymnastics this guy had to go through to work against his own interest and other DACA recipients' interests. And... the rest of us..... we all blame Democrats, Republicans, this person, or that person..

After spending over half of my life worrying about my status and future, I am quite tired of everything. Sadly, I am not someone who is strong or brave enough to do things and find my own path to legalization... kind of tired of living like this. I guess it is foolish of me to expect these politicians and those in government to help me with my future. It is frustrating that I am not strong enough to take matters into my own hands and take care of issues myself. I really wish I could just run away from everything.

Anyway, good luck to you all.

Having an ex-immigration prosecutor decide whether to agree to include legalization in this bill or not is a conflict of interest.

Ultimately, a path to citizenship is an investment in our country, in economic activity, tax revenue, and safety. I hope the Democratic leadership acts on this quickly.

Every single time you post on here it’s to kill morale or to gloat that we are too stupid to marry someone or get green cards some other way. We get that you already married someone and are all set, so why not just leave this board? It’s none of your business anymore. And for people like me, with multiple illegal entries before the age of 10 to which I obviously had no fucking say or couldn’t stop, marriage is unfortunately not an option. So yes, for some of us this is it or nothing at all.

Being realistic is not killing morale. Morale should be based on reality.

And I still have DACA and follow DACA and Dreamer news. I can be here if I want to. And I never said anyone was too stupid to marry anyone. Just encouraged those that can to seek a realistic plan B instead of relying on politicians to change their lives.

Someone else also brought up a good point that the 2017 tax cuts were passed via Reconciliation. But the tax cuts were not bipartisan (NO democrat or independent voted for the tax cut). How was that able to pass? She's literally making up new Senate rules out of thin air with no precedent and it's ambiguous. Then adding those rules to the Byrd rule, which gives her and any Parliamentarian in the future more power out of thin air.

It is incredibly dangerous because other Parliamentarians in the future can make random rules too just because they want to and gridlock the Senate even more.

In fact, if the requirement is "bipartisan"ship for Reconciliation, then no Reconciliation bills will ever pass again in the future (and the 2017 tax cut wouldn't have passed). If there was bipartisanship you don't need Reconciliation in the first place you'd just pass the bill normally.

I was not expecting someone who's supposed to be non-political to make such a political move and just not a political move, a move that gave Parliamentarian way more power.
