Going to be honest here, I don't think all Democrats are in favor of updating the registry date. We know all democrats are in favor of legalizing the DACA population, but not all are in favor of "Amnesty" for everyone who enter before 2010. As long as DACA people are lump together with other groups, nothing will pass. This is the hard truth.

Is it too late to nuke the filibuster and pass Dem-lead legislation to make real change including a solution for Dreamers?
Who am I kidding?

It's so sad to think all the hard work Abrams did in GA to avoid a Republican senate majority is all going down the toilet. Sad to see the levels Trump and the Turtle went down to that resulted in what we have in SCOTUS and how the Dems are afraid to do some mudslinging and play dirty like them.
Dems have power to make things change and do not use it. So weak.

Stay tuned.
DACA only solution via a regular bill and not thru reconciliation right? because I don't think the parliamentarian said that she would allow a DACA only addition to the reconciliation bill.

I think the problem is they are being too ambitious and jamming too many people in. It won't be an issue if they just go down step by step to reach an optimal level - prob just the dreamer population- that will be ok d by the parlm.

At some point she HAS to say yes...that's imo. They do have a precedent but that was much smaller in scope.

She didn't say the opposite either.

TPSers and DACAers pay mortagaes, loans, CCs, and most importantly TAXES which has a direct impact, as oppose to indirect, on the federal budget.

I might be pulling all of this out of my ass but I'm confident a legislative solution for DACA is more than likely. Mark my words.

Can you explain this a bit more? Say the registry is updated and one applies for adjustment of status.

What happens afterwards? He waits for a green card for years? Can he work and travel in the meantime?

So this decade long backlog they are talking about only applies to certain people. Like h1-b workers from India and stuff. Also depends on the country. Like china India and mexico have a longer wait. And the only way you could travel while waiting on your green card is if you applied for advanced parole.

So if the registry update passes, we apply for status adjustment and wait for green card. How long does this usually take? 1 year? 2 years? Can we work in that time?

Also how easy is to get advance parole?

You would still need your work authorization you get from DACA until you receive a green card. It should take 1 to 2 years at the latest but depending on your country of origin it could take longer. Idk how long AP takes but other people here have done it.
