This all comes back to Filibuster. If they don't have the balls to abolish the filibuster, then they don't have 'em to overrule the parliamentarian either. Because overruling / firing her means that they can put just about anything in the so-called reconciliation bill and pass it with 51 votes, which is the same thing as not having the filibuster.

So, they will either have to find a way to put something in reconciliation, or try their luck with republicans on a small bipartisan immigration bill - which ain't happening.

It's not a matter of balls, if you don't have the votes.

It's a matter of taking action by eliminating the filibuster.

And this plus all of the other incredibly important programs like housing, healthcare, education, etc, are at the mercy of the filibuster. Get rid of it and you have the votes. Simple as that.

you still need Manchin and Sinema to get rid of the filibuster, which both of them said they wont eliminate.

Simple?

You can't even get 5 randos on this forum to agree, how are you going to get 50 egoistic Senators from various regions of the country and vastly different constituents to agree?

It's anything but simple.

Dems are their own worst enemy. If they don't deliver on immigration now, they're super fucked with the Latino vote. What's the point of electing Dems if they don't do shit?

Does the Latino vote even matter?

Cubans and Venezuelans in Florida couldn't care less about DACA, the lost "Tejano" voters in South Texas couldn't either. They might lose some votes in California, but that's not turning Republican soon. Not a sizable population of Latinos in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania. Of the Latinos who are eligible to vote, a lot don't even to register.

Is the Latino vote that has DACA or other immigration related issues as their priority that politically advantageous to Democrats?

The Democratic leadership is failing to exercise their authority on this.
The parlamentarian was an immigration prosecutor (and I think I read she is a Republican) who made up all kinds of reasons why this is not okay...blah...blah...blah. Total conflict of interest.

Dems grow some backbone. They will lose the Senate, the House, and the Presidency if this does not pass. Labor and work has changed post-pandemic. All of these essential immigrants need legalization.
