I waited and called the day (they were closed due to veteran's day). Then called the next day, after speaking to 4 different people I was able to get an infopass appt to uscis field office 2hrs away, for Mon Nov 15, that is just 6 days before I need to travel. They told me I have to bring these to the appointment:
-evidence of the need to travel
-fill out a NEW I-131
-pay the entire fee AGAIN
-bring 2 passport photos
-proof of current status
-translated birth cert (not sure why)

I will give this a try... kind of sucks paying all that money again for a new AP while is already in process (received 86 days ago), but if I do get it will be worth it, If i dont I will have wasted 1K on an unachieved AP
You will not have to pay for the info pass if the application is not approved. You can also still use the one you mailed once it gets approved.

Wow, I had the infopass appointment Monday. Had to fly to NY and drive 2hrs to Albanay NY to the field office for it (NY is my peramnent address though I work in GA). Anyway, it was all worth it.

First they told me it would be difficult to get it approved as they have very limited emergency advance parole to give out (sounds like excuses to me ). Anyway, I presented all the documentation. The officer ask me to go back to the seating area while she presented it to her director for review. 20 minutes later they called me and told They would process it, and asked for payment and 2 passport photoes. I was so happy. Then I had to wain 3.5hrs to actually get the AP document. Again, it was all worth it.

I asked for 30 days so they gave it to me for 30 days. The only thing is that It would be 30 days from the day travel (this Sunday). But they actually gave me 30 days from the day I got it, which was the past Monday, so Im losing a week. But thank God, this should still just be enough time for me.

I noticed that in this case they only give one single sheet of paper. When you apply via the normal process they usually give you 2 pages, which are the same. I have read one was to present before boarding when you head back to US, and the other to give to the immigration officer in USA. I only got one single paper, so I imagine it would be to use once one arrives in USA, and I will not need to give anything back in my home country when boarding the plane.

Congratulations on getting that AP. In the past , I have always given both copies to CBP at port of entry.

CONGRATS! You can give the copy to both parties. To board the plane, they only look at it to confirm you can travel into the US. Customs will be the ones stamping it.

No you do not need to give anything in your home country. They will just look at it. When you will arrive here. Most likely officer will stamp that and will give you back. Like i said in my sister's case she received only 1 paper. Once she returned officer did not stamp her passport instead on AP and gave her back.
