Hi everyone.

I had a question for people who were unable to renew their EAD in time. I sent my EAD renewal back in Jan and they still havent done anything. My EAD expires in less than a week. I sent a request in to my congressman, and spoke with an USCIS agent to expedite the request. Is there anything else I can do?

Also, for those who had a lapse in their work authorization, did your employer place you on leave, or just straight up fire you?

Thanks.

Don't say anything... If they say something to u then ask for a leave. But if they don't say anything. Just go to work and nothing will happen.

Did you send it in 6 months advance? This is why I always send mine way early so I don’t encounter this problem. I always send it like 7-8 months before it expires for my peace of mind. Forget about the losing a few months in the EAD. Always be safe rather than sorry.

Anyways, this happened to someone I know. She was basically fired or laid off, whatever you wanna call it and her employer said they would take her back whenever she received her new EAD. Thankfully, she didn’t lose her job and they just reinstated her when she received her new EAD a few weeks later. It depends on your HR or boss, I guess.

they'll fire you on the day the ead expires. the LOA option is the only best option. i know because i went through this crap with a few of my employees. is not the company asking for the EAD its the frikin government asking the company about it.
