#DACA update: Judge Hanen has set a conference with all attorneys in the case for a week from today, Oct. 14, citing the ruling from the Fifth Circuit that the district court review the recent DACA tule “expeditiously.” Hearing is in Houston. #HomeIsHere

Good? From Hanen? The only good thing he did was allow renewals to continue, my thinking is he was expecting the 5th Circ. to do the rest of the dirty work and didn't see them punting it back to him to review the new rules.

I really, really, really hope for a surprise but...

I could be totally wrong but I think that Hanen is going to take it one step further and get rid of the work permits but leave the protection from deportations.

If you look at Biden's last fortifying BS document he talks about if the courts recind the work permits, he would instruct dhs that daca population is not a priority for deportation.

I really hope you're wrong. The case retuning to this judge is making me feel uneasy.

This is a little confusing because we can't get EADs without deferred action, and they are two different forms. If the EADs are cancelled, why is automatic that we'd be deportable if the deferred action is still in place protecting us until expiration?

Sigh.

Why would Hanen end it now when he had the opportunity to end it in the first place? It seems like he was sympathetic to those already in the program during his last ruling.
