If anything passes it will probably be in the omnibus along with everything else that needs to pass (debt ceiling) so it gets lost in the year-end noise.

It could be posturing to get an advantage in negotiation. It's not really up to him what gets brought to the floor.

Democratic leaders in the Senate have thrown their weight behind a bill protecting Dreamers, granting them some form of permanent extension to the work permits and deportation deferrals they received under DACA.

Ugh, show us something. An amendment, a bill, anything!

“We had a really good meeting. Laid out the challenges that we’re all collectively facing here. I think there’s widespread agreement that we’d be better off with an omnibus than a [continuing resolution] but there are some significant hurdles to get over to do that,” McConnell told reporters after meeting with President Biden and congressional leaders at the White House.

He said that “for myself and I think the majority of my conference, defense and Ukraine” funding are “at the top of the list” of priorities.

But he said Democrats’ request for increased non-defense discretionary spending is a “sticking point.”

Yeah agreed. But I also think that not pushing for citizenship show that Dems are negotiating seriously because the issue of citizenship has caused many bills to collapse. I am 100% ok with not getting citizenship if it means we get stronger protections.

The fact that Daca is not in the news could actually work in our favor. It gives us cover from the immigration hawks and public opinion who will try to kill any bill. I like the idea of getting a deal and bill and trying to sneak it through
