I’ve read a couple of books and articles about how if you really want something to happen in your life you must ask the universe (or whatever you believe in) by declaring it, saying it out loud, meditate etc. Essentially these books say that you must really hope for it, ask for it, and it will happen. Looking back on my life when I was a kid, I can recall about 3 or 4 times when I really wanted something, I hoped for it with all my being, and it did in fact happen, it was almost magical. But I guess this technique does not work for immigration related issues, lol. I’d love to hear other people’s stories; how hard have you hope to get status? Have things happened for you when you asked the universe?

Mine was pretty crazy. It was back in high school and I knew I had to go back to my country once I graduate to prevent unlawful presence in the US. I had a girlfriend for over a year at the time and despite the status problems, I hoped that everything was somehow going to be ok. Then one day my ex randomly broke things off. I was devastated; saw no future in front of me. I was going to be a stranger in a country I didn't know. A week or so after the breakup I woke up really early and went downstairs (away from proximity of parents) and started sobbing; started asking God why everything was crashing down all at once. Asked him why he brought me a to a country where I had no future. I had calmed down after a while and wanted to get my mind off her and my status problems; turned on the TV around 7am. It was President Obama walking up in the rose garden and started announcing DACA, listing my exact status, 'effective immediately'. There was never in my time a prayer was answered so fast that impacted my life in such a way. I simply think back to that moment everytime I lose a bit of faith and I get it all back. Hope

It doesn't work that way. People who believe in this are the ones that call totally rare and random occurrences "miracales".

Right now. I'm in my early 30's and I get a chance at building whatever I want. I'm just living life and grinding. Immigration status doesn't affect me like it used to. Only downside is I can't travel the world. I probably would see most the world by now if I had status. Everything else is good. I was just thinking today, life is pretty good.
