Biometrics - In person?

For anyone who has applied in the last 6-12 months, is the biometrics part back to being in person or they use what they have?

I hate going to that place for biometrics!

Also, approval times are still normal? I'm mailing mine this month. Expire early January.

Right now for the most part USCIS reusing the old one. I do not think they will send you for new biometrics. However, each case is different. You never know with USCIS.
