So I have been worried about getting my employment card on time since I only submitted it a couple of months in advance this time around. I was dealing with some personal stuff and completely forgot to submit it 3-4 months before like usually do.

Long story short I submitted my renewal application online on February 21 with an expiration of early May 2024. So I would have been in a lot of trouble at work probably having to wait an extra 1-2 months to get my card.

My case was approved on April 1. This has been the quickest turnaround for me ever and it all started by submitting everything online for the first time this year. I wonder if the online process expedited the process this time around? Regardless I got the message that my case is approved and my card is being printed and sent over.

I’m over 160 days and still waiting for renewal nothing new that would have caused my case to be delayed. I call and all they say is to wait. Online filing didn’t make it any faster instead it’s the longest I’ve ever waited for it.

Biden extends some immigrant work permits, potentially saving thousands of jobs

https://thehill.com/latino/4573404-b...-work-permits/

it does not mention daca specifically so I am not sure if it will apply to us.

Quote:
The Biden administration on Thursday is announcing an extension of work permits for certain categories of immigrants, potentially preventing hundreds of thousands of people from losing their jobs overnight.

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is publishing a temporary final rule in the Federal Register automatically extending the validity of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) from 180 to 540 days.

That means eligible immigrants whose EADs have expired since October 27 will remain eligible to work for at least another 360 days, while their EAD renewals are processed.

The two largest groups benefited by the change will be asylum seekers and foreign nationals who are in the process of changing their status to permanent residency. In all, up to 800,000 immigrants were at risk of losing their work permits without the new rule, according to a USCIS spokesperson.

As usual, DACA category C33 is bottom of the barrel and is not considered for automatic extension. I just hope these measures they are taking free up some time for them and they can clear the DACA renewal backlog

My EAD expiry date is June 7th, 2024

I just sent my renewal online a few days ago and i just randomly checked my status today and it showed my card is being produced and sent to me.

That's insanely fast if you ask me. 2 years ago when i did it online, it took at least 2 to 3 weeks for some sort of activity.

I guess whatever they did to speed up the process with the Migrant situation really is helping.

Wow, it is insane how arbitrary there Renewal times work, there are people that have been waiting for 5 months!

Anyways, congrats!

I submitted my renewal on March 12 and my EAD is expiring on July 19th.

The currently processing time for DACA renewal is now 3.5 month BUT the processing time for I-765 that's concurrently filed with DACA is 6.5 months. Even if DACA was approved, I was told my application was still within the processing time of the I-765. I'm really depressed right now since my company is definitely going to lay me off if I don't have the new card.
