Please someone help me make sense of this.....i am reading the guidelines for the new Keeping Families Together-parole in place, the next statements are from USCIS website to me they seem contradictory to each other and basically makes the program moot......any insights?

"As long as your parole remains valid (that is, is not expired or terminated), you will be considered in a period of authorized stay. As a parolee, you may apply for any immigration status for which you may be otherwise eligible, including adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident."

"A grant of parole in place under Keeping Families Together does not establish eligibility for other immigration benefits, including lawful permanent resident status."

I think it mean it only paroles you, but doesn't automatically make you eligible for other benefits with the parole alone. If you seek permanent residence, you need to go through AOS, etc. and meet those separate eligibility requirements.

I appreciate the feedback....I've been reading the paragraphs over and over to really understand them, and I see what you are saying. this will only clear the EWI and allow me to apply for adjustment of status, but those processes have their own criteria. Man, this is kind of scary, because I am not familiar with the whole petition/green card process. I really think that if I apply for this parole, I need to get a lawyer to help with the next steps.

I would recommend a good attorney for the peace of mind. I've done all my DACA applications by myself and had an easy AOS case, but still got an attorney for my AOS. Worth it.

I am filing PIP with attorney. What she told me is I-130 needs to be filed, PIP, and eventually I-485 (green card) after that citizenship... long process, but better than before.

Those things are not mutually exclusive.

As a parolee you are eligible to apply for whatever you are otherwise eligible for. E.g. you use this to wipe an EWI, you can file for AOS as a spouse of a US Citizen.

Being a parolee doesn't make you otherwise eligible for other immigration benefits on its own or open any other paths (e.g. other AOS like F1-F4 categories, AOS via work, AOS via DV lottery, change of status to some nonimmigrant visa, etc).
