I get that he won't be deporting DACA recipients - but let's NOT forget that during his term he stacked the Supreme court, can now also appoint more judges during his term, and that he also appointed many conservative FEDERAL judges in circuit and district courts where DACA is constantly being fought over in many states. To say that Trump will only affect migrants is an understatement to say the least.

Here I am - incredibly disappointed that Kamala, (while she was thoroughly qualified), never directly addressed the migrant/immigration issue to voters - and let's face it, Americans DO NOT want endless mass migrations of ppl coming to the US, getting free healthcare, working papers, etc - I live in NYC and even in this ultra-liberal zone, people are not happy with the multitudes of migrants showing up all over - sidewalks/subways/cafes, panhandling, filling classrooms in public schools, receiving cash benefits, free housing etc. Well, we know for sure that Trump will at least be putting a stop to what has become an uncontrolled border issue.

Absolutely does suck for the rest of us who are being roped in with all the rest of them.

Done with rant.
Same exact situation and career as you lol, minus the ivy. Migrants near me have not really been disruptive but the sentiment is horrible. Why do you say he wont be deporting people with daca? He prioritizes criminals but he can lump our situation as overstaying as a crime. Too much heat and battle on daca. The conservatives are totally fine with taking it away and NOT caring about our careers, families, lives.

Same here, I am an attorney in the worst state to live in right now (TX), the only way to fix my status is through marriage which hasnt really happen bc ive been too busy trying to make it (plus im gay) and/or when my parents become LPRs in 2027 ill be able to get a waiver for my EB visa. My employer is more than willing to sponsor me i just dont have the qualifying relative to get the waiver i need.

I am also a woman, and seeing this country hate women so much that they would sell us out for "cheap gas"... its been quite devastating. Unfortunately i havent put much of a dent on my student loan but thankfully if DACA ends (or when it does) I wont lose my employment bc ill switch to 1099.

I dont think Trump will grant us anything. Anyone who has this idea in their head is delusional, he has no intention to help anyone but himself and his billionaire buddies.

Trump wanted to give Green Card for people who have a college degree. You should be excited.

I am also devastated.

The analogy to this is :

We're all bugs. More specifically, we're bees. We're considered "good" bugs because we produce honey and pollinate flowers in this happy field called USA. We've been allowed to stay in the field because our honey is sweet and we're considered the ideal bugs.

Unfortunately, a lot of bugs started to move in this happy field. So many, that it became infested.

All kinds of bad bugs got in the field and they are ruining it for all the good bugs. These new bugs are nothing like us. For example, the roaches only want to shit up the place and reproduce like crazy. The locusts want to eat all the grass and flowers. The wasps are super aggressive and they love to sting everything on sight. The field is now a miserable place with all these new bugs roaming around.

So, fast forward a little bit, the owner of the field finds out what happened to his field and boy- he is pissed off.

He just got back from Walmart and bought a bunch a pesticide to deal with this bullshit.

Even though we're good, happy productive bugs - the pesticide will kill us if it touches us.

The owner of the field may not intend to target us but that is the way pesticide works is, if you are a bug - it kills you.

After all, we're all bugs - just like the roaches, the wasps, and the locusts. Even though we try our hardest to be good bugs.

That's how I feel about this.

STEM Act in general doesn't apply to us. Under current senate version (S. 2384), INA 245(c)(2, 7, 8) would still keep you from adjusting (as would 245(a) if you're an EWI). So congrats, you'd get a current petition that'd still need an I-601A or DACA before 18.5 to do anything with.

Not as much as his first presidency. I was still in college and the future seemed uncertain.
All we can do is wait and see what he does but I think he will not accomplish everything he says.

This was a proposal by Trump.

Very creative, that's pretty much what it is.

Until an individual has been in our shoes, it is extremely difficult for that person to truly understand.

At this point, I just live my life as is. Luckily, I have taken the steps to ready myself for Canada, if it comes down to it (i.e., taking the English exam, getting my education certified, entering into the Express Entry pool).

I think it is good to vent. Good to have a community where you can go and talk, and not have to explain why it matters - so I hear you man, it sucks.

I just began my career as an academic in a STEM field - working as a "doctor" (doctorate, not a real physician, haha), and it would certainly suck to have to move to a different country when all of the training and education has been completed in the U.S.

Best of luck to you.

Can you please tell me what you're doing regarding Canada. my mom a few mins ago told me to start looking into Canada and i said why would i do that w/ DACA. I dont want to mess w/ my DACA status. Thanks.

Very good analogy but I'm tried of being a bee.
