This is a better than than the half-cocked REGISTER OR ELSE plan they have going on. And you have to pay money for it? Lol. Non starter.

I don't have optimism in congress doing anything. They are way overdue on so much yet they never do anything about it because a small group of lobbyists and well connected monied interests have such a reliance on keeping everything the same. And same is stagnation and poisonous for a nation. Even the damn penny, the useless coinage that people throw in the trash or dump on the ground lives on because congress simply can't get its act together to cancel it. Nobody collects their pennies to bring to trade because its so worthless. Even more bewildering all the arguments in favor of it. It'll apparently raise prices?? By 5c or less cents? Its not 1913 nobody cares about 5c. Eliminate the 5c too. Its one more step towards cashless society?? You use a card already, we are wayy past cashless society.

Same with the outdated relic of a tax system. Lets have you do these lame forms which were already sent to the government (how else do they verify), and send them to the government again in a new special form to see how much you owe/are due and also pay a guy at HR block to do this for you because the tax code is swiss cheese. Our government runs on literal cheese. You know how they do taxes in advanced nations? They don't. They just get a form that says how much they are owed or have to pay and then done.

This system is allegedly for making taxation as painful as possible so people are for lower taxes, but if you just pay a guy to do your taxes where exactly is the pain? I do my taxes for $15 dollars state included all forms. Not too painful, not too expensive.

This country needs strong decisive action from congress and all you get are continuance resolutions, half cooked laws, renamed post offices, 37T of debt with nothing to show for it. Here is an idea, raise minimum wage so one person can run a household, send one or two kids to college, and actually own a home. Anything else is just same old inability and of course they blame it on "illegals." Taking our breadcrumb away won't make yours any bigger and in fact will make it smaller or eliminate it.

It's a fucking great idea because it is a) reasonable b) a solution to safety concerns.

Congress is going into recess next week I think or the week after. Call your legislators local offices and tell them you want to see something like this negotiated THIS spring. Ask to meet with them and their community representatives. IF they say no, write to your newspapers and tell them exactly who said what when. They need to be called out for irresponsible governance. This includes attacking undocumented workers who help power local economies and are taxpayers in their districts. If foreign corporations that abuse citizen and immigrant alike get a say, all taxpayers get a say, too.
