Latinos used to support Democrats because of their commitment to immigration reform that would benefit their loved ones. However, Democrats have consistently failed to deliver on this promise for decades.

It's been 25 years! When do you finally say "enough is enough"? When your DACA status is revoked, your job is gone, your home is lost, maybe even your marriage. What will it take for you to stand up and take action?
Oh we have a ton more left to lose. As in they'd have enough votes to not only fully fund mass deportation, door to door, trash can checks, and go further than that. They'd install a theocracy, they'd edit the constitution, they'd further erode the independence of states. They'd out law Islam, they'd try and denaturalize in their extreme radical interpretation of the 14th amendment and make it retroactive to the 1800s.

I think when both sides have awful margins it's more likely to temper the excesses.

The reality is that elections have consequences. Deportations will not be halted anytime soon; in fact, they are expected to increase with President Trump implementing the Alien Enemies Act of 1978 to expedite the deportation process.

Democrats were aware of this outcome and played a role in it. Biden was revealed to have initiated the construction of new detention facilities, paving the way for more deportations.

Why did the Democrats neglect to include protections for Dreamers when they approved the tough Laken Riley Act? Why did Gallegos and Fetterman dodge questions about Dreamers when confronted by the media?

In my opinion, Democrats are equally responsible for the current situation. The only distinction is that they conduct their deceptive actions in secret. They may promise not to deport you, but their actions behind closed doors suggest otherwise.

Update 3/13/35

Quote:
Senate Democrats say privately that they will not allow the government to shut down Saturday, despite growing pressure from activists and liberal lawmakers who want them to kill a GOP-crafted six-month stopgap spending bill.

Senate Democratic sources say Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) is giving plenty of room to centrists in his caucus to vote for the House-passed continuing resolution (CR) if doing so is the only way to avoid a government shutdown at week’s end.

Schumer on Wednesday said Democrats would insist on voting on a monthlong CR to give congressional negotiators more time to reach a deal on an omnibus spending package. And he threatened that there are not enough votes to pass the House-approved funding bill.

But Democrats familiar with internal deliberations say that maneuver is designed to save face. They say the Democratic leader is giving members of his caucus space to vote how they see fit on the House-passed bill — recognizing it’s probably the only way to avoid a shutdown.

Schumer’s decision to let the debate play out in the Democratic caucus has disappointed some liberals who wanted their leader to take a more confrontational stance on the GOP-written bill, which Democrats argue would cut critical services, and declare it “dead on arrival” in the Senate.

But Schumer decided not to do that as it would have put tremendous pressure on centrist Democrats who are up for reelection, such as Sens. Jon Ossoff (Ga.) and Mark Warner (Va.).

Looks like Schumer is publicly stating that they will not support it, but privately he is telling his caucus members that they can make their own decisions on supporting the bill.

He's implying that since the Rs did not get any input from Ds, they will not get the support or votes they need in the Senate.

I expect some posts from some of you blaming the Dems once the government shuts down. LOL <3
"But the Democrats!" You guys are insufferable.
Well, surprise surprise, they went and lied to your face again.
I told you so! LOL LOL!!.

BREAKING: Chuck Schumer Will Vote For Republican Funding Bill

Quote:

WASHINGTON – Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said he will vote to advance the Republican funding extension and avoid a government shutdown at the end of the day Friday.

"While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse," he said during a speech on the Senate floor Thursday. "I believe it is my job to make the best choice for the country to minimize the harms to the American people. Therefore I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down.”

The reality is that detention facilities are dual use facilities, I dont think they were necessarily intended as deportation centers but rather a place to store people for that CBP one app. Again, detention centers dont really imply direction.

Democrats neglected to include protections because they simply didn't have the votes to offer up any meaningful opposition. Simply not permitted to offer up any amendments.

Gallegos was caught unawares and he solely is to blame for Laken Riley bill. It was pretty obvious he didn't read it and was unaware of its content and or he is in a vulnerable race/district etc.

I think Democrats are the best we have, because the other team is queuing up the Alien Enemies act, and has never, not once, brought up the dream act not even in a token announcement. Though to be fair, some republicans, the good ones with brains and courage, did bring up things in partnership with democrats under better times.
