Happy 13 years to DACA.

Dick has been at it for over a decade. His efforts and advocacy were great in the, let's say, first 5 years, but nothing has ever happened. More portraits of pretty Dreamers on the Senate floor with sob stories to tell. Equal responsibility is on Republicans too with Dreamers being the least controversial and lowest hanging fruit on the immigration tree.

Nothing good is going to happen for Dreamers under Dementia Don's Republican administration. Republicans have all branches of government, are over 4 months into this admin, Diaper Don said less than a month ago that the "border is closed", yet no Dreamer legislation has been drafted up or discussed. There are no moving goal posts if there are no goal posts to begin with. They are going to keep up the travel ban to keep as many POC out of this country and will be trying to deport every immigrant until midterms when Dems make Orange Don a lame duck. No amnesty for Dreamers. Project 2025 in action! Don't forget.

Why would the Republican party want to help Dreamers? They think we are eating the cats and dogs of our neighbors and are poisoning the blood of this country. Their words, not mine.

In the screenshot above within Durbin's Dreamer portrait, you can see attractive and very successful Florida resident, BeingOfLight, with a stack of college textbooks she never read because she never went to college.

Ima need you to leave Durbin alone. He did everything he could. Blame the worthless legislature. They are real good for cutting Medicare and food stamps, but when it comes to doing anything to help the bottom 50% they are nowhere to be found.

So far 6 months in has anything gotten better? Also cool to see how almost everyone in that picture is over the hill. 50 minimum. This is their mess.

They probably get mad that people speak Spanish.

Schumer and Dems derailed $20bln wall money + DACA legalization deal

Now $50bln wall money coming thru with Big Beautiful Bill

Without DACA legalization.

Let that sink in.

Ok, so what is Dementia Don's Republican Party doing to help Dreamers now? They have a majority in the Senate and the House.

My guess is keeping us in their back pocket until the hot topic of immigration reform comes around again. This time, however, dems don’t seem to have leverage and Republicans can dangle us or threaten us if they don’t get their requests.

I do wonder if all this chaos and news will be used by them to say, “See! We kicked out all these people, time to fix the system and provide relief to the Dreamers.”

Time will tell… soon.

What makes you think Republicans want to reform immigration? They have the budget to do what they want immigration-wise now. They aren't angels looking to improve the system. What reform do you see them needing Ds for?

Both Democrats and Republicans have the responsibility to address the issue and update the immigration system with a program that helps Dreamers, long-settled immigrant workers, families, and the skill-based system. THIS needs to be part of the conversation right now.

In addition, Democrats can use this opportunity to address how much legal immigration going forward is manageable. Why can't a Dreamer or undocumented worker have an avenue to regularize their own individual status but an H1B recipient can bring in mom, dad, in-laws, etc? The H1B system is rife with fraud, but the tech sector support it, so that is also stuck as if we were in 2002.
