"Illegal aliens who claim to be recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are not automatically protected from deportations," DHS assistant press secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to NPR. "DACA does not confer any form of legal status in this country."

McLaughlin added that any DACA recipient may be subject to arrest and deportation for a number of reasons, including if they've committed a crime. McLaughlin then urged recipients to self-deport.

"We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way," McLaughlin said.

Wonder how MAGA Dreamers will find a way to blame this on Biden or UWD.

She always says "we encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way" as a scripted response whenever illegal immigration is brought up.

They are canceling all TPS programs, arresting people at courthouses, even the ones trying apply for a legitimate relief, arresting people on the streets, even citizens, they are trying to strip people from their citizenship, eliminate birth right citizenship etc.. They are saying this will be the first year ever with negative immigration numbers. Based on all these facts you'd think that they are going to try to get rid of daca, specially since he tried to get rid of it the first time he won, but who knows, maybe nothing will happen to daca in the next 3.5 years, and if they try to get rid of it again someone will counter sue and daca will survive for another 4 years since those lawsuits take a long time to settle, if they ever settle, the last lawsuit declared daca to be unlawful but daca still exists lol

This is their default canned answer to everything. Acting as if the law changed if you have barriers to adjustment, when they didn't change at all.

I have serious doubts this "DHS official" even knows what they are talking about.

Lol "reserve your right", nobody is fooled. Apparently she was an advisor for vivek ramasquamy where is he now? Seems like she made it into thr government and not him lol.

"Illegal aliens who claim to be recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are not automatically protected from deportations,"

So are daca recipients not considered illegal aliens?

The wording is so strange. Like does she mean people who “claim” to have DACA but do not have an approved case are not protected? That is obvious, because they weren’t granted deferred action by USCIS.

The main purpose of DACA is to protect from deportation… 🧐

My question is. If they indeed wanted DACA dead, couldn't they just do another executive order and be done with it?

Renewals are still being approved, DACA is still standing. I think this was a blank answer so it doesn't rile up his base. I think DACA is going to be used for something bigger that will transform our immigration system.

Care to elaborate? I have a feeling this administration wants to deport as many immigrants as possible not the other way around lol
