I think the GOP will only bring an immigration bill up after they declare Victory on what is currently happening with the deportations, enforcement, and so on. When they can tell their base, "We got rid of all the bad ones, and only the OK ones are left in the country."

As for Trump, signing an immigration bill, I think he would do it to boost his ego. This issue has eluded presidents and Congress since Regan, and this would be an opportunity to show all of America that he is better than those guys. I am fine with whatever bill grants us some legal status and real protections.
