im female and i dont plan on marrying anybody for status. marrying your bf is like the last resort for legalization. i wouldn't do it.. i'd rather go back to my home country, wait out the 10 year ban and take chances there than to marry somebody and be dependent on him to give me life here in the us. i've heard these 'marry for legalization' stories and it just sets up more inequalities.

Well, I have been with my boyfriend for 4+ years, so we wouldn't be marrying just for papers. Anyway, I don't plan on marrying him any time soon. I'm waiting until 2009-2010 and if nothing happens by then (doubt it), then we'll consider marriage because we'll be old enough and we'll have stable jobs, etc.

Yes a lot of single dudes. While there is nothing wrong with it, it feels weird being driven around by your chick ALL the time, hence, no gf here...

Sorry to bust your bubble, but I wouldn't be so sure of that...

Nevertheless, enjoy what you have while it lasts

While I am young and persevering with my education I have no intention of leaving the US.
I can't, my life and family are here. I am confident DREAM will pass. It might take a few more tries, but I cannot give up hope for the life of me.

I'm sure you know this but I just want to make sure people aren't making hasty and drastic decisions based on the disappointment of DREAM failing this time.
I do not have a job lined up. I'm not seeking a masters but I'm not going to let my engineering degree rot in the closet for 2 or 3 years. I'm planning to go back to my home country (Mexico) and find a job there. There are a few industries over there doing IT stuff. Quite honestly, I am really tired of the whole "illegal" thing. This country's ego when it comes to immigration has gotten a little old. Maybe I'll come back legally after the 10 yr ban.
Well, if you made your mind, there is nothing we can do to stop you but still, make a careful plan and a back up just in case. Try to get a job even if it is not a great one and save some money. Still, look for a job in Mexico and try to have a job waiting for you. It is the best course of action. You are bilingual and that always counts in your favor. Also, Mexican law allows business to ask for specific age and sex. They can just ask in the ad to apply only if you are a woman under the age of 25. They always ask you to have nice presentation or they tell you flat out to be good looking. Check this site for reference and see what you can find.

Good luck. Remember ex-President's Fox granfather was an American that emigrated to Mexico and fulfill his Mexican Dream. Just luck for your happiness and your right to be. That is the only thing that really matters.

I have been with my bf for more than 4 years and we had also discussed marriage before. The only difference now is that we are speeding things up so that I can be productive and contribute to the relationship.
