I like the elimination of the ten year ban. I think that is just and fair.

STOP GROUPING US TOGETHER WITH OTHER UNSKILLED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!! I don't think this country will ever pass a broad legalization programs that gives citizenship to every illegal immigrant within the borders.

Huckabee will not come outright and say that he supports the DREAM Act or giving legalization to college educated students. His support is proven by his plan to provide more visas for highly skilled and highly educated immigrants. And he supports the basic premise of the DREAM Act, which means he is amenable to children who grew up here and have been educated here their whole lives.
He wants ALL illegal immigrants, not some but all to register and leave.
= mass deportation

Good for you, you are an educated illegal immigrant, but guess what............you're still illegal............I do not share your opinion........my mother and father are not educated, but they deserve a chance too. Those cherry growers, apple pickers and drywall laborers as you call them are human too, did you forget that? They deserve a chance too..........Have you ever thought that those uneducated illegal immigrants have children that are now educated and skilled as you and I? Do you know why..........because those "cherry pickers" brought them here for a better life. Thank God for that!

every day we argue about this and that, our goals began to diverge since day one of this fight, someone wants CIR someone wants DREAM, there are folks who even want their own private bills. Guys listen, if we diverge our goals further, our existing resource (if we have any) will be stretched, more importantly we don't have a leader that could devote himself/herself to lead our group, our opponents have only 1 goal that is to kill every legalization bill, this is why they win every battle.

In other news

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has taken the lead in South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows Huckabee with 25% of the vote, Mitt Romney with 18% and Fred Thompson with 18%.

Yes, well a mass legalization program is not happening anytime soon now is it??? As long as we try to pass DREAM with CIR, we'll just have to continue facing more time. Rahm Emmanuel has said that a Democratic President wouldn't tackle immigration until 2012 at the earliest. Maybe you can wait till then but I'm getting older as the years go by.

And its not like Congress will be acquiring more liberal Democrats. If the House or Senate picks up conservative Democrats, then any attempt at CIR will be blocked. Which is exactly whats happening now. The Democrats win in the 2006 elections allowed liberal Democrats like Pelosi, Hoyer, Levin, Reid and Durbin to take control of the Congressional leadership. Yet they can't pass CIR because the rank-and-file Democrats, which are highly conservative, vote with the Republicans. Reid and Pelosi have both publicly complained that they can't get their freshmen Democrats to vote with the party line.

So yes, I'm grateful that my unskilled parents brought me here but my parents are very troubled and anguished with the fact that I can't apply my educational skills here. So at this point, I'd rather have DREAM than CIR. And if that means making a distinction between skilled and unskilled then so be it.

I think it's high time that certain dreamies here acknowledge the importance and worth of ALL individuals regardless of their education. Before we pass comments on those cherry pickers or those day labourers, we must stop to think that they may not have had the same opportunities we have been blessed to have. Certain people in this group should not single out others from us JUST BECAUSE WE WENT TO SCHOOL. An education means NOTHING if you cannot use it for the advancement and welfare of ALL. WE ARE ALL HUMANS FIRST. SO STOP FINDING AN EXCUSE TO DIVIDE!!!!!!!!!

Let me just say that my point is that if passage of DREAM needs a distinction between unskilled and skilled immigrants, then I support that distinction. CIR is very controversial and always ignites a firestorm of rhetoric and debate. Any attachments with CIR are also thrown into this firestorm. Look at the enforcement measures that went into the 2007 CIR. Even Alilosers say that those enforcement measures aren't enough. The point is any issue that is attached to CIR always gets railroaded. Which is why I support the distinction which would distinguish DREAM from CIR.

My intention isn't to degrade or debase unskilled immigrants because they're less educated. People are people. No one is less or more than another.
