I was given a ticket for driving over the speed limit...but most importantly my car got impounded for driving without a license. I was in a rush because I was late for my final. I thought that I would have had my papers by the time I entered college but instead now I am drowning in loans. Since I was caught in the freeway, the cop gave me a ride to my school (my school is just right next to the freeway.) I was embarrassed when I stepped out of the car because my friends and peers were all looking. I hope something is seriously done to correct this, because students like us don’t deserve to be embarrassed. I mean I am only 18 and I've been here for 17 years (You do the Math.) 17 years in this country and I don’t deserve to be embarrassed.

Oh, yea they also didn't let me in to take the final... 3 months of hard work and 600 dollars gone to waste.

I'm very sorry to hear that.
as far as your legal consequence is concerned, when you show up in the court, pledge guilty they will impound your car, and you get 300 dollars traffic tickets, nothing goes to ICE or anything, at least this is what my friend did, and I understand not every places treat undocumented students the same.

Ouch, I feel your pain, I really do. If that happened to me I would be pissed and F'n devastated at the same time. The worst part is all the hard work put into the class, all for nothing.

Eric - So terribly sorry and just frustrated to here that.

We are talking college I presume? Can you ask your professor to give you an incomplete? There has to be academic provisions for these kinds of extenuating circumstances...Don't give up on that much money and your hard work. You should appeal.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Let all of your sadness, frustration, and anger out...scream/cry/write/read/run...whatever it takes to make you feel better. Then try and wake up tomorrow with your head held high. Don't let this bring you down. Life goes on; things will get better.

Show them the TICKET!

Go to the department chairperson and explain what happened. (about the ticket)
File a complaint with the college dean, you shouldn't have to forfeit an entire class (and thousands of dollars) for simply being late.

I am sorry to hear that eric_prec.. i could only imagine, how embarassed you were..although i really can't help you on the wasted 600 dollars for the class, but what i can help you with is, the ticket, they probably will give you a speeding ticket/traffic ticket, is this your first time?, b/c here in Vegas, whether you are undocumented or not, you can go to numerous lawyers, who will go to court for you and slash your speeding ticket to almost half, and bump it down to a parking citation, meaning you dont get anything on your record. most lawyers will charge a fee to go to court and reperesent you, but it is not much, although the lawyer i know goes to court for free, i kno people who get speeding tickets of 300$ and end up only having to pay 150$, not only that, but at a much later date. i dont know where you live, but you should definitely ask around, b/c i kno there is a way out of it, you dont have to go court and you dont have to pay that 300$+

OMFG, dude... this forum only allows one Eric who's 18 years old and has been here 17 years.. I'm sorry to say that I've already taken that spot.

But seriously, yea that sucks. It just happened to a friend of mine who's also here illegally.. I think she said she was told not to get caught driving for six months or else she could face some jail time.
